Features A PermaCrete surface is a three-part, acrylic polymer cementitious resurfacing system of over 6000 PSI compressive strength that provides an architectural, load-bearing surface. It's sealed and non-porous, resists chemicals and withstands freeze-thaw cycles as well as intense heat and ultraviolet sun rays. It can easily be applied over such existing surfaces as concrete, aggregate, masonry, steel, asphalt, or foam.
Product The three parts of a PermaCrete system are:
- A Matrix Mix of high early-strength concrete compounds and specially blended additives which are mixed with one of many standard, or other custom, water-base pigment dispersion Colorants.
- A chemical Bonding Additive which is a high solids, water soluble acrylic polymer resin that is mixed with the Matrix Mixture and especially designed to provide enormous surface strength and lasting adherence to the surface.
- Two applications of an acrylic resin PermaSeal Sealer (waterbase) formulated with special acrylic polymers, chlorinated rubber, epoxy resin and quick evaporating ingredients in a color complementary to the Matrix Mixture in one of over 170 standard or other custom colors to provide additional strength and continued protection for the Matrix Mix application.
Usage Resurfacing with PermaCrete renews instead of removes; enhances property values; and, is a cost effective way of addressing the continual problems of existing surface deterioration and ongoing surface maintenance which is so prevalent in high traffic and commercial surface areas. New surface projects are equally benefited by the strong, durable and attractive finish with lasting protection which is assured from PermaCrete. Even underwater surfaces provide superb applications!
Preparation If previous coatings of paint, glue or varnish are present, they're removed with PermaStrip Remover. The PermaCrete surface application begins with a thorough cleaning of the surface area using Blue Nitro Cleaner or Orange Power Degreaser high concentrate, liquid cleaning compounds applied as necessary for the exact condition of each surface. Cracks are then repaired by sawing out each crack slightly deeper than its existing depth. This ensures good bonding for repair with PermaBond Crack Repair methacrylate or PermaGel Epoxy resin. If severe spalling, surface deterioration, or low areas exist, these are leveled as needed with a non-colored skim coat of the Matrix Mix and usually applied by using squeegees or a spray rig and hopper gun assembly.
Application The colored texture coat of Matrix Mix is then applied with the spray hopper and hand troweled to achieve the desired, textured finish. After all expansion joints have been caulked with PermaCaulk Sealant, two coats of PermaSeal Stain Sealer are then applied to the textured finish which completely seals the surface and enhances the existing Matrix Mix color. Tile and brick patterns or other designs can be achieved by taping the pattern design after the skim coat and then applying a texture coat. PermaSeal Stain Sealer is applied during each separate application of a two-color Matrix design system.
Maintenance The result is an outstanding, durable and attractive surface which is amazingly easy to maintain with normal household detergents. Safety considerations are enhanced by the increased slip resistance of PermaCrete surfaces. Independent testing has determined that PermaCrete surfaces are over 50% more slip-resistant than the minimum Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requirement for an FTC designation as a slip-resistant surface!
